Pam plans a break
Cafe closed October 7-18

We have been open for almost six months.  Support from the community has been tremendous.  Now Pam (and the rest of us at Cafe Demeter) needs a break.  We'll close from Tuesday, October 7, through Saturday, October 18.  We'll be open again at 7:30 am on Tuesday, October 21.

New season, new hours
The mornings are much cooler (after that blast of summer-in-September), the children are back to school, apples are ripening, fishers are out for kings, the town is quieter and you can hear the ships honking their ways through the fog in the straits.  It's fall.  We've changed our hours and Pam is cutting back on some production.

New Hours: Tues-Sat, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm. You can still drop in and make the 8 o'clock ferry and there will be time to come in after school.

We have a revised bread schedule on the Bread and Pastries page.  Country organic white (loaves and baguettes) will be available Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.  Normandy rye is still on Tuesday's schedule.  Fig-anise and rye currant are on for Wednesday and Saturday, as in the past.  Whole wheat on Wednesday and Friday; multi-grain on Thursday and Saturday.  As always, let us know in advance if we can save a loaf for you.

We still make at least one PIZZA each day.  The pizza comes with Pam's sour dough crust and is always vegetarian.  It comes out a bit before noon.  Call if we should save some slices for you.  The price is $3.75 plus tax ... a great deal.  Pam's quiche comes out earlier in the day.  Mushroom and gruyere cheese is a hit.  Brie and leek is super rich.

Come in for a take-out or for a leisurely sit-down.  If we don't know you name yet, introduce yourselves.

We have more wines now to take home with your bread.  We feature local, Northwest, and unusual, artisan wines.  See our wine page.

If any of our goods are not up to your standards, let us know.  We want islanders and our visitors to enjoy the best baked goods ever, and only you can help us achieve that goal.

It's all good for you.
